Characteristics:

Known as the “giant fungus,” it can form colonies weighing up to 10 kg. It is commonly found at the base of certain trees such as beeches, oaks, and other hardwoods. It may also grow on the trunks of dead trees.

Gastronomy:

Young specimens can be eaten fresh, but as they grow larger, their texture becomes tough and fibrous. It is used in stews due to its resistance to long cooking times. We typically dehydrate it to meet the demand for its recognized health properties.
